Traditionally, the DPF operates through a ‘honeycomb’ structure to maximise filtration of exhaust gases. By forcing gases through these complex channels – instead of being released as air pollution – particulates and pollutants are deposited on the walls of your DPF. Regeneration occurs once your DPF is fully saturated.
Over time – as pollutants build up and as your DPF additives decrease – problems begin to start. Regeneration can stop occurring, leading to potential replacement at a hefty cost. The filling up of additives can lead to service charges, and soot can swiftly build up to the ultimate detriment of your vehicle.
